Very choppy storytelling and ebook format is odd.

Having a hard time staying interested in this one so far.

Enjoying this one so far! Just got to a fairly graphic retelling of some torture, but hopefully it is brief and not belabored. But a good historical fiction book with a good romance mixed in with good banter (better than many romance books, IMO). Dual timeline book, so it isn’t just romance.

Loads of pretend drama

Slow burn again…

Finally started picking up the pace a few min ago. Maybe 40% in.

Kind of bored. I hope this plot moves somewhere useful soon.

Almost done. The book is a bit heavy handed with the feminism slant. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it reads soapboxy and pretty slow in some spots. There are some enjoyable points, and this would be a good book club read for Women’s History month in March.

Not sure of the actual %, 6hrs remains on the 2nd listen. Amaze. Thank.

This book could have been so much better without the dramatic love affair interspersed so much throughout the entire book slowing down every single situation and conversation. Ugh! I want to see how this one ends, but it is a struggle.

We’re at the part where I am ready to speed up the audio because I’m over the side romance piece that slows down the story so darn much. It is extremely repetitive too. We know! He looks at you!

The YA-level relationship dynamics are weighing on me. No shade at YA, but it is immature while trying to be so mature.

Dramatic and maturely immature somehow. Got repetitive for a while too.

Liking the story so far, but all of the side bars, internal monologue, psychological descriptions of facial features and reactions are a good bit overdone. They make the dialogue or scene last much longer.

Wasn’t a fan of the plot line searching for the cousin.

Started out interesting, but moving very slowly.

Already over how many times the FMC says “the little problem”.

I have NO IDEA how I haven’t read this one yet.

Generally liking it. The back stories are LONNNGGGGG and sometimes you forgot what was happening in the present to bring on the past. A 16hr audiobook is about 4hrs too much, but in general, it is a pleasant listen.

Kind of strange to start this book and realize I know the premise from a book that I read recently with the castle and the crazy ending. This book is talked about in that book.

Not starting off on the right foot. First FMC says she can never go back to NY, and then seconds and one shady email later, she plunks down $1,000 to go?! Ugh.

The sudden onset of drama is a bit much. At least things moved early in the book? But it all feels so forcefully dramatic.

Not really one of my preferred genres, but enough positive publicity made me want to try this one out.

Didn’t realize I didn’t mark this one as reading. Been several days. While I really like the book, it is never ending. 13hrs doesn’t seem that long, but I still have an hour to go and so much has happened!
