I struggled to get into this book because the prose is so different from any other I’ve ever read. Once the first chapter was read, it was easier to follow.

I’m taking lots of notes so I can keep up with who is who. I’m surprised by the humor. I’m glad I know a little about the English colonization of India and a little about Gandhi and Nehru and the partition of Pakistani and India. Otherwise I would be very lost!

I bought this book because the author was supposed to be at the Tucson Festival of books. Frankly, I found the book to be rather boring and not very well written. The premise for the book was interesting and could have been much better in the hands of another writer.
