I was surprised to find the main characters are 18 and 20, I was told it was Adult Fantasy but they feel so YA.

So far it’s just ok for me, the characters and romance aren’t very well fleshed out but the worldbuilding and setting are great!

Guys does this book get better? Anyone who’s read it please weigh in. The writing is juvenile, clumsy phrases/dialogue, and the worldbuilding and characters seem thin.

Like I read That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon and Villains and Virtues and liked those books (and it’s similarly a fantasy Romcom) but this seems very amateur.

The main character is kinda, weird. I’m not sure I like her very much.

I think the author tried to pull off some Emily Wilde vibes but ended up with an absolutely antisocial shut in. Like she literally can’t hold a conversation and can’t remember the last time she spoke to a human person.

This book is excellent and I’m sad I had never heard of this series before now. With almost thirty books it seems like one of the more prolific Space Opera series.

Ok so we have a count of three uses of “decadent like chocolate” and tbh I’d like a man who smells like that over “sandalwood and tears” or whatever most authors choose.

This is going pretty well so far and I’ve got some Ilona Andrews vibes and the worldbuilding is based on Greek gods similar to Percy Jackson.

Trying out a vampire romance/urban fantasy for Halloween. It’s pretty simply written and the MC seems more like a naive 18 year old than a college graduate (canon age 22). That being said she fights with her wits and knows when to run away. The world seems interesting and there’s no “masquerade” which is unusual in Urban Fantasy. Overall it’s not bad and I’m interested in finishing the book.

Much better than the first one, we have ditched the schoolyard bully plot and gone fully into the schemes and political power struggles. Every main character continues to be shitty/morally grey in their own special way and it’s very entertaining and dramatic.

This book improved so much from the previous one! The dialogue issue was fixed and I’m loving the plotline where they are solving a mystery!

The genre has changed from Romance with a dash of Cozy Fantasy to just regular Fantasy. There’s barely a hint of a romance plot line. The book continues to be 70% Ambrose and Eli and the stakes are much higher. I’m actually stressed out…

I was honestly expecting Dawn and the New Romantic lead to take the main bulk of POV like in many Romance series but that’s not the case here.

So I’m trying to train my brain to get used to audio books, and I’ve selected a reread. Also I’ve been meaning to dive into the wider world that Sullivan has written. I’m very interested in the Age of Myth but I’ve forgotten a lot of details.

This time around I can really see the Sword and Sorcery influence, especially Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser by Fritz Leiber (1940s-80s)

I’ve liked her other books but not as much of a fan of this one. The main character is 36 (I’m almost 32 for context) and acts like she’s 56 dang. Both characters have a lot of self doubt and it’s been repeated over and over at only 30%. I’ll keep going though as I want to read Saints of Steel and it’s the same world.

I’m really liking this a lot more than I thought I would. The fairy people are based in folklore similar to Emily Wilde. It starts as a school bully YA type of story but I think we are headed in a more interesting direction.

I’m such a slut for books about books and this one is just amazing so far! Also feeling a little feral about the hints of romance but I have a feeling it won’t materialize in Book 1.

I don’t read much apocalyptic fantasy and this one hits a bit close to home. The virus is very close to the Covid pandemic despite being written in 2017. Feels like a zombie story with a lot of survival elements. Love the magic stuff but I wish we had more of it.

Im liking it so far, but the kid character is not great. Also this is on me for reading four Romances in a row with fated mates but I’d really like it if the MMCs would not be instalust/instalove. I wanna SEE the falling in love part for both of them thanks.

Not bad, sort of similar to the old school LOTR rip off/D&D type of fantasy. It’s nice to see some familiar stuff, dragon riders, elves, dwarves and such. Good variety in male POV characters but sadly less female POV. Though with 9 books in the series that may change.

Enjoying this one! Leads are 33 and 45 (?) mature adults. Excellent Space Opera vibes with a dash of Romance. Something I’ve been craving in Sci Fi Romance which is dominated by Mars Meeds Women (no hate, I too enjoy Ice Planet Barbarians).
