No. Definitely not this one.

It's not a bad book by any stretch, but we just hit the big sex scene, and I said "NO" out loud at least five times.

A lot of what made the first book so entertaining is still here but if she says “adorkable” one more time I’m DNFing

Why the fuck not.

I wish I could beat several of the people involved in my upbringing with my copy of this book, mostly about the head and shoulders. Sadly they’re almost all dead now.

Another pleasant surprise: this is really well written! Well edited, good flow, and interesting world-building.

I have been having nightmares about Nazis so time to finish this fucking book

Relishing in some bite-size essays on such lighthearted topics as *checks list* uh... rape culture, sexual assault, and how men relish terrorizing women more than most of us even realize. Just some light reading while I wait for Operation Paperclip to make its way back to me.

For clarity's sake -

Things a victim advocate can/will/should do: explain your rights, explain any medical or investigative procedures, lay out all your options for any of said procedures, be with you for emotional and physical comfort, help you contextualize your experience.

Things a victim advocate cannot/will not/should not do: make decisions for you about anything, ever, at all.

Oh I have all sorts of beef with this book

For one, I’m a victim advocate, and her portrayal of the one in this book is fucking ridiculous

This is very, very good but I don't think I'm quite ready. Gonna DNF it for the time being and come back at a later date.

Needed a break from the very dense, very existentially upsetting Operation Paperclip, so I’m rereading my favorite book of all time to see how it holds up six years later.

So far, every bit as incredible.

A/ This book is huge, the audiobook is 19 hours
B/ however bad you think Operation Paperclip was, it was worse
