This chapter is currently talking about needing clarity not certainty, which feels very important whether or not you are about to retire. “Not all uncertainty requires action” which I like the sound of; however, I believe it is important to do what you can when you can in any circumstance. So I’m not sure how much I agree with this sentiment. “Start by identifying what you can influence”

… this book is making me think that there are some kinks that fully are not real?!? This book is so uncomfortable and weird but also hilarious?

It’s calmed down a bit and given explanations but the ordering of this book didn’t feel made with the audience in mind and how scary the idea of retirement and supporting yourself without a job is.

Honestly if I were reading this book in my retirement age it would be freaking me out right about now. It’s telling me the last decade is more important than my first 30 years of life. Which is quite calming honestly as a 26 year old just starting to become financially literate but this book would probably make me have a panic attack if I were about to retire.

I am 10% of the way through this book and it has just gone over what we will be talking about in the book so far and I am honestly feeling very frustrated with it.

Couch surfing- invite people to lunch who host other people and speak the language you want to speak

SPEAK THE LANGUAGE WITH OTHER PEOPLE

Memorize scripts (phrases) that you will often use.

Rogue memorization doesn’t keep words there especially with not being able to produce words instead of just recognize them.


Create an image or short story when trying to remember a new word - stories with similar sounds

You need breaks esp with full on immersion.

When you’re doing some tbh big that doesn’t feel like work (watching tv in the la gauge) you can learn a lot more without as many breaks)

Fluent in 3 months: several hours a day and you can probably get to A1 or A2 maybe B1, avoid other side projects

- set good goals (not just learn Spanish): specific target in a specific timeline

I am frustrated with this book. I thought it was going to teach me to how to learn a language quickly but I am 13% in and it has just told me that I am capable of learning a language which I know. I just don’t know what to do
