Over-written tale of two teen girls who experience love at the legendary Opele De Pieta (Sic) ,a Catholic orphanage that trained talented young girls for a music career. Might’ve been an interesting story but couldn’t get past the prose..

DNF A somewhat interesting glimpse into a young divorcee’s life; circa 1924. It definitely gives off F.Scott Fitzgerald / Dorothy Parker-sequel vibes but it’s rather repetitive as Pat, the MC, goes from one brief romance to another & does the NYC party circuit. I moved can’t return this book at the library here( though I’m still in the same county so go figure💁🏻‍♀️) so might go back to it.

. So far , I preferred the first part of this story about a brilliant, enigmatic professor who teaches a no credit course on the History of Civilization. The 2nd part deals w/the protagonist Neil & his writings on about pagan Roman Emperor ,Julian. Still, Barnes writing has a way of sneakily growing on you .Not a long book as well so I’m sticking w/it👍

I just finished a book featuring a sugar heiress( which , funnily enough goes well on Post Grape Nuts since in spite of what this book claims, they really haven't got much flavor to them) The sugar heiress was a fictional character but I need a break from reading about women whom inherit mills, even if Marjorie Post was quite unlike the one in "When We Lost Our Heads". Anyway, will get back to this one👍)

Glad I finished that one;(the book) definately did not live up to it's potential..!

Really Interesting Book,as well as V.Sad and Shocking. Whether you like it or not It'll Definitely make you think about China in a Different Way!
