Decidedly mixed feelings about this book. I'm engaged in the world and the main character. But, the structure seems arbitrarily obtuse. Like, they took a story that could have been presented linearly and chopped it up for some effect that didn't work. Still, I need to know how it ends.

Some books change you. Between this book and Matthiessen's Shadow Country, I am becoming a different person. Hopefully, a better person but certainly and irrevocably different. This is what books are supposed to do and I am enthralled to the transition.
