slow progress, but will ironically probs pick up now that library book bingo is over

rereading in anticipation of book #3 coming out super soon… surprised by how little i remember??

dude. i hate nonlinear timelines. why do all my books have nonlinear timelines.

otherwise, v much enjoying so far! it’s kind of hard to follow — the writing is kind of dense, and there are so many characters, and ofc the timeline screws w my head — but the themes of the book really intrigue me.

also this book would win diversity bingo in a heartbeat.

for “set at sea” library bingo prompt. first third or so was pretty boring, but now it’s picking up pace somewhat. pretty repetitive, but ig that makes sense given the situation…

okay so i calculated the “read” percentage if you don’t include anything from “notes” onward… i am going insane but i’m reading this for book bingo but actually this book might not even count in which case i’ll lose it

wait actually i’m closer to 40% done if you don’t count the notes + everything after that

time to see if i’m still fluent-ish or if i get too frustrated and give up. atm i’m looking up words constantly bc there’s no reason i would’ve learned some of this vocab in class, so that’s discouraging, but i’m trying to remind myself that that’s part of the process and that it’s better to kind of understand this book than to never read it in the first place.

in pursuit of library book bingo but mostly bc it’s the sequel to the book i just re-read (in pursuit of library book bingo…). i don’t have much hope about finishing this in time bc it’s nearly 500 pages and also so sad that i don’t want to read it in fear of making myself sad in the middle of the day

when i tell you i’m making a valiant effort to get bpl library book bingo despite physically not having enough time in the day… i’d been meaning to read this one anyway, and since it’s a shorter book, i felt like this was the perfect opportunity to do so. it’s significantly more morbid/depressing than i expected it to be, and the lack of chapters is overwhelming… but i’m enjoying it enough thus far

lowkey considering DNFing. the way this book is split up into chapters based on category more than chronology is bothering me

reading for book club! v excited about that. i have mixed feelings about this book so far—it’s def not a book i would’ve picked out on my own, but i have a pretty specific taste in books, so that doesn’t surprise me much. we’re flip-flopping through time again (w/in the same chapter!), which is annoying :/

started reading yesterday! much denser of a read than my last several books

so far a lot less sex and a lot more violence. may have shed a tear or two.

dnf’d my last book and started this one on the ferry to nantucket. moving through it v quickly. it’s much more explicit than i expected, and kinda cheesy, but still v much enjoying. i’m a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers trope.

kinda boring, kinda interesting? i think we’re mostly just establishing context rn, so hopefully it’ll pick up soon

new book about boston tragedies !! feeling a bit more unsure about this one (it’s not about a fire and it’s starting off pretty slow), but i’m trying to go into it w an open mind!

still thoroughly enjoying myself! it’s such a sad story but soooo fascinating. i really like how this book breaks the story up into chapters based on subject (i just read about the trials related to the fire!!)

newest book about boston tragedies!! enjoying(?) this one also. the descriptions of the fire and its victims are crazyyyy.

so far still an interesting book! it’s absolutely wild seeing names of streets i’ve frequented being described as engulfed in flames. latest reading soundtrack was olivia rodrigo’s new album.

newest bedtime story!!! only a little bit in and we have already referenced the author of my beloved great molasses flood book, so i think i’m in for a good time.

damn the reviews really weren’t kidding when they said most of this book is not about the massena blood libel

lovely bedtime story <3 it’s so fascinating to me how relevant my slightly boring henry ford book is to this one!! he’s brought up so often, and looking ahead, i’m gonna read about the dearborn independent all over again. i love when my media connects w each other <333

also whenever it talks about jews, irish americans, and african americans together in the 1900s, im like omg it’s “ragtime” the musical

i’ve been so bad at updating goodreads lately. this is off to a slow start but sounds promising.
