I'm kind of having trouble following this and I can't put my finger on why, because there's nothing overtly complicated happening. I think it's mostly that there seem to be so many mysteries going on. The overall result, though, is that we're a third of the way in and it still feels a bit like I'm waiting for the plot to really get going.

It kind of shows that this book is dated 2012. Something about it just feels slightly out of date from what I've absorbed about recent Supreme Court rulings through osmosis. Also, reading about checks and balances continues to be really depressing right now.
