GODDAMN, Everything's Eventual is a fantastic story. Fucking great.

Really enjoying all of his stories. great horror, great writing. def gonna go for a King novel next, hoping for the fear I felt that made it difficult to read The Shining

I love King. His stories are so easy to get sucked into. Finished 1408 and Riding the Bullet. Can't wait to finish the rest! I'm rarely this satisfied. Even if the horror doesn't scare me, I'm still completely sucked in and can't wait to see what happens next.

I've been struggling to find horror I enjoy, and thanks to my library, a growing collection to get through. As such, I'm getting a little burnt out. My focus is to 1) finish all the library books I checked out, 2) start getting through all the books I own (mostly Stephen King) before getting more, 3) stop and enjoy some romances, 3a) find the romance subgenre for me. Really struggling on that one.

Starting in on a romance binge, I haven't read much romance in a while. I'm not sure how I feel about these characters, and their introductions. It might not be my type of romance. Hoping to find my niche.

Guessing on the number, because I started with 1408 (LOVED IT), and will go back and forth throughout the book. I haven't read King in a long time, but I'm so glad I finally am again. Great horror. So, so great to have good horror.

Omg. Smith: An Episode in a Lodging-House is one of my all time favorite stories. It has everything I love in horror. Why is it so hard to find stories like that about the occult??? It's amazing.

The writing is just so interesting, it really pulls you along the plot, half dreaming.

Enjoyed the Dead Call story. One thing I do like is how many stories there are. Most are very short, but there are some good ones. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have bought it. I'd rather have some other book.

2nd: The Library is great, I love the concept, the MC, how he's called a librarian, that spiders are horrible monsters who need to die, how the entire world is given to you in just a few pages. Overall, a great story, and it made me MUCH more enthusiastic for the rest of this book!

Changed my mind, that first story was pretentiously preachy. I think the author tried too hard and couldn't keep themselves from mixing tons of (awkward, bad) metaphors with meager thoughts and actions, until it was just one big pile that felt like it lost its direction halfway through (which is impressive for a 11pg story), and I really disliked it. It WAS one long whimper, so, maybe that was Dawson's goal.

Also, keeping track of my impressions from each story here to help with the review when I'm done, though I wonder if there's a better way? Or if I'm being too harsh? Maybe by review time, I'll find a nicer way to say these things.

First story down. Concept was cool, the writing was okay, but the dialogue made me stop multiple times, and roll my eyes when, yes, they really did just say 'it's as if my dreams are the closed bud of a rose, and the truth is merely the opening of the flower...' No one talks like that. And if they do, they deserve all the eyerolls. The writing felt pretentious to me, and trying hard to make the chars like geniuses.

Count Magnus is one of the scariest tales of the book. I think it's scarier than "Oh, Whistle..." The sense of danger helps.

Absolutely amazing writing. This is what I've been missing lately.

Can't decide if I want to finish this. I just don't care about the main character enough to find most of the things that should be scary, actually scary. He's way too annoying.

Decided to reread after only a few months, there's a lot worth revisiting.
