Emily Warfield is on page 184 of 240 of Land of Milk and Honey
If you love speculative fiction, queer fiction, incisive class commentary, and have ever wanted to sob over someone eating Chinese street food in Milan, this is the book for you.

I grabbed this off the library shelf randomly, and I can’t tell if it’s going to turn into “What if we lived in a world with TOO MANY reproductive rights?”If that happens, I will lose my mind

Emily Warfield is on page 54 of 128 of The Country Will Bring Us No Peace
These people are evidently rich enough not to have jobs, so I guess they live in an alternate universe where there’s Goretex but no reproductive medicine

Emily Warfield is on page 65 of 304 of Drug Use for Grown-Ups: Chasing Liberty in the Land of Fear
I loved his tweets for years, so I was NOT expecting this “Beyond the Harms of Harm Reduction” chapter. So far it is like the perfect encapsulation of the failures of a STEM education. You’re a neuroscientist with radical takes on drugs and you evidently have zero clue what historical context the harm reduction movement developed in?! Yikes, my guy!

Emily Warfield is on page 67 of 208 of Three Rooms
This is the first book I’ve read that fully captures the relentless, mundane horrors of late capitalism , and it is both perfect and awful

Omg I read like 80 pages today out of ANXIETY. Almost everyone in this book is a slightly different flavor of shitty poly/kinky/queer leftist, and every time I think I know what point the author is making, it takes another turn 😮‍💨

Emily Warfield is on page 136 of 272 of The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate: Discoveries from a Secret World
Continuing with the advice that life is too short to finish books you don’t like, I threw in the towel about halfway in. Some cool tree facts (well, only about European and North American trees) but the anthropomorphism is driving me insane. I feel like an editor decided this needed more compelling ‘characters,’ but I am simply not going to believe that trees have friends!

Emily Warfield is on page 54 of 256 of Wealth Supremacy: How the Extractive Economy and the Biased Rules of Capitalism Drive Today’s Crises
I made it about 80% through, and while I appreciate the overview of neoliberalism and financialization, the hostility to communism and rebranding of socialism as ‘democratic economics’ (not unexpected, as this is written by a businesswoman— but she cites Mark Fisher and Frantz Fanon, among others?!) is just not for me!
