Reminds me of Michael Scott’s *Threat level midnight* not in a good way.
My coworker loved this book and I thought I’d read it so we could have something to talk about.
I’m an army veteran (deployed OIF ‘03-‘04)

Listening to this book reminds me of listening to has been soldiers talk about their glory days .

Now I think my coworker is lame.

I love listening to John Slattery read this book to me. ♡

Very unusual book. Flowery prose but hard to follow plot.

I want to love this book. I want to appreciate the author's reading of his own work. Yet, I don't love it. It is deep and heavy and it breaks my heart. It is too close to home for me, a young teen's life experience and sexuality. It reminds me of what my child will be going through soon... and I would take on the hurt of the world to spare him the pain of growing into adulthood.

Book is getting interesting, I hope it doesn't fizzle.

I tried listening to this in audiobook. It was slow moving and not interesting. I couldn't finish it. Decided to look up the plot/spoilers online and call it a day.
