So I have a mild addiction to reading about war...

23/428: I was pleasantly surprised to see book on the drug war in the Philippines. The author eloquently tackles a profoundly dark subject matter, evoking a level of heartbreak comparable to Timothy Snyder's "Bloodlands." While I haven't finished it yet, she unquestionably merits the praise bestowed upon her by the NYT and Times Magazine.

Woke up in the middle of the night to read. It is gripping. And a really annoying character that Spielberg rewrote for the movie.

A character is so annoying, thank god they were rewritten for the movie.

41/226: fascinating so far. No outright mention of Serbia until pg 30. I'm interested to see where this goes.

30/195- I appreciate the science and humour. It makes me smile.

Just purchased book: I hope it's as funny and I think it could be.

2% done - For someone who committed to studying the Bosnian War and Serbian history this will be an interesting read.

Book 1, part 1: not a hard read at all. I noticed that Clausewitz was mentioned, as was strategy. I am curious to see if there is any reference to Jomini as he was a strategist during the Napoleonic wars and his concepts' influenced Russian behaviour in the battlefields.

The goal is to finish by early to mid august.

This far a bit US centric.
