I swear I’ve been reading this more than I’ve been updating. Beautiful and captivating as always, had to pick up a physical copy that’s how in love I am with this. Wish life wasn’t so busy so I could finish it all but I will keep reading bits and pieces when and where I can.

This story has made an absolute mess of me and I’m barely halfway through. So beautiful and tragic and frustrating and perfect and I never want it to end but also I can’t take it anymore. Help

Pretty corny so far but I just wanted to know what it was about before watching the movie anyway. Glad I opted for the audiobook instead of wasting brainpower actually reading it.

Honestly after the first third of the book I wasn’t sure how much crazier it could get or where the story might go but I’ve been very pleasantly surprised with the way Kuang has been able to maintain my attention & interest

Truly baffled and horrified at Kuang’s ability to so accurately represent the “White woman who is entirely unable to understand anything outside of herself”. Every chapter I think I can’t hate June more and somehow I do.

Just finished the first chapter and honestly it’s been a long time since I’ve gotten hooked on a book so quickly. Brilliant writing I’m excited to continue.

Gotten much better in the second third than it was in the first, and much sadder too :-( I’ve really been enjoying Agnes’ character, though. My heart aches for her.

Absolutely beautiful writing, I understand why they call Martin the master of prose. I will say, though, reading from these characters’ POVs has made me very attached and now I’m scared to continue reading knowing what’s coming.
