Certainly, the pace has picked up. I find it interesting the level to which the government gets engaged even overshadows the original goal of going to Antarctica.

I Could have done without the political intrigue. Slowly starting to pick up with the discovery of some sort of vessel in the ice.

I am struggling to stay with this book. Now they are introducing a political element which is just not doing it for me. I will keep going but ...

It occurred to me that this book moved like a first-shooter game. He is wearing a super suit and finds stations to recharge his suit, picking up weapons as he goes. If even shows his reserves in his HUD.

Ray Porter is great. A humorous story as the gang work to prevent the end of the war from an alien race using a cheeky AI

Curt is starting The Elders (Mind Dimensions, #4)
I read the first three books several years ago before picking up book 4.

Very slow moving. Exhaustive detail of the goings on without making progress. The dialog is lame.

Spent a lot of time with the Elders while his family kidnapped. Some "super pusher" is trying to get him killed.

So the whole premise is getting to me - that is no rescue party. I am getting into part 5 and the story is not that horrifying.

Interesting twist - they want her to go back to the ship. Kinda feels like Aliens. They want her to help them revisit the ship since the distress beacon from one of the passengers has started up. She also has no memory (reliable) of how she escaped.

So far this is a good book. They find the luxury liner ghost ship and are currently trying to navigate it to a point in space where they can contact Earth. They are interested in claiming the ship for salvage rights.

Claire Kovalik is suffering PTSD episodes because of her childhood but also appears to be seeing ghosts of the people who died. It appears they killed each other or themselves.

This book is droning on and on. The reader is not helping as he doesn't impart any real emotion except when speaking for Sophie. Can't wait for the book to end.

This is not really like McGammon's early works (like Swan Song). This far "listener" refers to a boy, Curtis, who has telepathy where he can hear the thoughts of other people who also have the ability. So far that is the only supernatural element.

a lot of lecturing about how the earth is being destroyed by humans. This destruction resulted in the diminishment of the bat population. The book goes into the fight between the animal rights people and the rest of the world who don't care.

So far this book is focused less on the medical aspects of the virus that is being spread by bats, it is about the elements of politics and other organizations that are leveraging the tragic events to their benefit.

This is not a bad book, but it hasn't really grabbed me ... yet. I don't like not finishing books so I will hang in there.

So about 40% through the book, in the audible edition, we are introduced to a new character Charles, who is an alien gun that contains an AI with the voice of John Clesse. The dialog is very very similar to the character Skippy in the Expeditionary Force series of books by Craig Alanson. The back and forth dialog between Charles and Patrick is quite comical.

I am struggling. The group got split up. After all the hoopla in the first book about bringing Bren (the love interest), she is hardly mentioned so far and totally omitted from the first encounter that results in the splitting up of the group. Also, the book is running along predictable lines and it is difficult to stay engaged.

We are following Peter as he tries to service and by helping a teenage girl's grandmother by raiding a drugstore for insulin - ends up kill 3 people - no big deal - it's end of days right?

Meanwhile, his sister and her family thought getting out of dodge by going camping would be a good idea. It is funny to see how dumb she and her husband are as they rely on their 15 year-old son to keep them alive.
