I like this book a LOT in terms of education for loved ones of people in addiction. The one blemish has been the author’s remarks on MAT as shielding the person in addiction from the consequences of their addiction, a sentiment that I strongly disagree with and one that I feel only adds to the problematic discourse around MAT as a tool in recovery.

That man spent pages and pages wiping that girl’s face, I’m really tired.

I...hate this book. I’m trying, I’m really trying. But these characters are tough to like, especially the side characters. And the conflict doesn’t make any sense and I am CONFUSED. Whew.

I am not showing my reading challenge books to ANYONE this year.
