Mildly entertaining as we follow the MC through his daily life, but so far up to chapter 14 and there hasn't been any rumors of a plot

Too many unconnected storylines and/or flashbacks to follow easily on audio. Soldier, scribe, pirate/prisoner, kid falling out of apple tree

Started ok, then got bogged down in an in story play performance. Couldn't keep my attention. Dnf

A nurse hitting on her rape victim patience cringe on a couple different levels

An alien Empire conquers earth, one earth ship escapes and becomes a pirate to attack said alien empire. First encounter, they find someone else about to attack their target, so earth captain decides to attack and board this new enemy of earth's enemy... I interesting choice of strategy there...

Also narrator varies from good, to robotic, to over the top poorly done accents

Really want to like this, but it's just not really working for me, this may end up being a dnf

On chapter 8, struggling to maintain interest

I've really enjoyed this series,and this book up until now. however, I'm not sure if there is any plot device more annoying and more likely to cause me to lose interest in a story than time travel unless you ad in an infinitity of parallel universes and multiple dimensions.

loved the coldfire trilogy, so giving this a try. interesting premise and world building, but don't care about the characters and I'm losing interest in the story. this may be a dnf.

so Trell who has amnesia is going on a quest to find out who he is, but before he sets out, he is in library and told to read anything he wants, and journal left open on the table says who he is... but he doesn't want to read it. Then practically the first person he meets knows who he is... but he wont let her tell him... because "the journey may be more important than the answer"

story feels very slow. getting too bogged down with too many characters/races and little details that don't matter. not connecting with characters from any of the story lines.

started out pretty good. I like the premise, characters a little too simplistic but not too bad, overall still a decent and interesting story. until the Kings council, during which things just started to get silly and not at all believable, will reader a little more and hope it improves.

now the Posleen have been going fishing (fishing poles,worms etc), sitting around campfires, getting drunk, and singing songs... songs from Monty Python!

wow... (minor spoilers) so an insane alien AI merges with an old US navy ship that was somehow actually already alive... and it takes on a female aspect that has pms, and can only be satiated by crew members scrubbing furiously at a specific spot on her deck, and by wearing pretty dresses/awnings. oh and she's trying to clone herself a body because she's in love with the Captain.

enjoyed the other Posleen novels, but at 70% of the way through I haven't found any characters I really care about and too many characters introduced just to die in the next chapter.
