It's just occurred to me how rare it is to have a fantasy heroine who gets pregnant and has a baby, enjoys and loves her bubba, and she's still the heroine - she doesn't get sidelined, she's still her, the heroine! Amazing.

...although considering how much of the story is left, I feel a foreboding of doom...

I think it's the sheer righteous arrogance of the Seanchan Empire that makes me despise them so much. That plus their behaviour towards magic users is abhorrent. Speaking as someone who always wishes they could use magic - I am FIRMLY on the Aes Sedai side on this debate

It's an impressive story teller that can make me so angry

I think I'm enjoying this book on re-read even more than expected - mainly because one of the characters is pregnant, like myself currently, and I am sympathising so hard about how annoying it is when people give unwanted advice, judge you for eating tasty things and generally coddle you. I'm pregnant, not dying. Also, goddamn mood swings.

Ah, the long-winded Wheel of Time series... where even the prologue is 99 pages.

It is nice to be back to it though (after a decent break!)

This is the intellectual equivalent of a bowl of porridge or museli... I know it's good for me but its not something I want to read every day and it takes effort to ingest.

This reads like poetry. And like a lot of poetry, I'm not entirely sure what it means but it's pretty!

Finally got my copy back and I can re-start reading this. I have to say, I suspect this book is only for people with a strong understanding of Roman history. I'm struggling to recall details from my uni classes about 10 years ago!

Oh no. I've just realised why I'm struggling with this book. I don't care about any of the characters, who manage to be either irritatingly boring or boringly irritating. I'm not sure which. Maybe both

There is nothing like reading Harry Potter when you're home sick in bed with a cold

This is just too tense and exciting. Which is causing me real issues because it means I can't read it just before I go to sleep!

I think this might be my favourite yet.

Oh dear... I suspect the author was 16 when he wrote this... but I'm not sure what the editors excuse was...

This book swings wildly between 2 and 5 as anticipated star ratings. Some aspects as just so good, and yet...

In so many ways this is a great book. And yet I am still struggling to get through it... Plod plod plod

I keep thinking how much faster it would be if it wasn't all first person narration. And switching the narrator every few pages really doesn't work if you have a dozen+ and they all sound like they have the same voice.

There are some awful people in this book. And the rest just seem kinda sad. It's quite off-putting

Oh dear. Another book where the narrator is a different character every few pages. The storyline is tight which helps, but it's not what I was hoping for/expecting

I have never skimmed so much of a book and still been reading it so slowly. I have literally skipped chapters and don't feel like I've lost anything from the story. I can see glimmers of good/interesting story but it's just buried in dense irrelevant description
