Boy, if that isn't one of the most pretentious sentences I've ever read. Mr. Chris, or Mr. I've Traveled To Every Country, has yet to learn some humility.

What a douche. Why does she like him? That remark in itself is hella misogynist, I would have turned him down right there.

I'm actually in love with Packer's writing. I normally don't like short stories because I can't get into them but Packer writes so fluently and easily, I can't help but become engrossed with each story.

Already dying, I fucking love this series.

There's a lot of controversy over this book and series; you either love it or you hate it. I can't really help myself, I love it. I can see how it'd be pretty boring if you had just read 'Every Day' and went straight to this one. It's been years for me so it's almost like reading the story for the first time again.

Story help!!

I’m currently writing a fantasy short story in which two beings, both boys, are brought together by the strength of their bond, but their worlds are never meant to meet and so their being together ends up destroying the very fabric of both their worlds (cliche, I know, but I’d still like to finish it).

Now, I initially imagined the story with these two spirit boys who fall in love. -Continued-

For a book about fighting monsters, there has been nothing but info-dumping and one boring confrontation (not nearly good enough to be a fight). This better pick up soon, otherwise I'm 'dnf'ing.

So far, there's a lot of info-dumping, but I'm intrigued with the story anyway.

This is not what I thought this book would be at all. I was expecting a dramatic and real portrayal of poverty and an unlikely couple, but all I'm getting is a cliche joke. Ew.

Plus, I just noticed the details on the cover; the little red scribbles are actually the shapes of rabbits, snakes, and dragons, from the Chinese zodiac.

"Where is this house?" Brendan asked. Age twelve, he sat next to his sister, Cordelia, playing 'Uncharted' on his much beloved PSP. He sported his favorite grass-stained blue lacrosse jersey, town jeans, and weathered high tops.

Did I really need to know every article of clothing he was wearing? Might as well include his socks and underwear too, as unneeded info goes.

Amy has a very skewed view of women and feminism.

He has claimed me, placed a flag on me: I was here first, she's mine. It feels nice, after my recent series of nervous, respectful post-feminist men, to be a territory.

Skimming quite a bit. It's a decent book but a little too 'mystical' for my taste.

"Just let her go," said Kell.

Kell has no reason to care what happens to Lila but he's saving her anyway, dramatically telling the villain who's hurting her to 'let her go'.
I feel like deja vu because we've all seen this scene before.

Okay that's just downright gross.
Lila gets ahold of the magic stone and makes a fake version of Kell, making the fake version start stripping right in front of him.
Like, if the roles were reversed and a guy was doing this to a girl, people would be blowing their tops. I liked Lila, but now she's pissing me off.

For some reason, this whole story so far seems so pretentious to me. The main character being a super special magical 'antari', all of the royal people, and even the narration just seems very...irritatingly pretentious.
Maybe it's just because of the mildly info-dumping beginning. I hope it gets better though.
