Flickan I snön - i svensk översättning

Read this +30 years ago and got stuck at the same spot as now!

Väldigt tråkigt och långsamt än så länge. Måste ta en paus och läsa något annat... Ingen bra start på denna nya bekantskap...

Not another political election process to follow.....! That was sufficient to have in the last episode. If this continues, I shall skip this series.

Love it so far!

Listens to the audio. Good stories, but since I'm a sensitive person, they give me nightmares... Need to portion out the final 60% in a slow manner...

Entertaining, so far. I remember our whole family watching the TV series when I was a child, however I don't remember anything of the plot. :)

Passerat hälften och inte förrän nu inleder huvudpersonen någon form av militär aktivitet i Amerika (dock endast som utbildare). Hittills är Fogelströms (gamla Stockholm) resp Mobergs (utvandringen och båtresan) böcker överlägset bättre än detta...

My 2nd or 3rd try on this book... Just can't get the story going?

Avslöjande läsning. Inte direkt upplyftande... Självklart viktigt att lägga korten på bordet!

Fortfarande bra, om än bitvis överromantisk. Svår balans att få till mellan realism och andra inslag.

Bok 1 av 5 avklarad. Mycket intressant perspektiv (kvinnornas och folkets) och välskrivna karaktärer. Ser fram emot fortsättningen!

Not as good as no 1, at least so far. Author spends a lot of time and energy to recapitulate story from no 1. Why? I know that book... Need to put faith in the reader's ability! :)

A slow start. Even, at times, I considered putting it away, unread. One section I have read before, in the form of a short story (Mr Bones). From chapter 10 the story rings more "true" to me. I will definitely carry on.

It's very interesting. Both the description of the war and the individuals that we follow.

Andra delen ger intressanta perspektiv både på Pierres och krigets utveckling. Författaren kritiserar historieskrivarna. Även denna bit mkt intressant lösning!

Del 1 avslutad. Helt fantastiskt bra. Jag är stum.

I really enjoy the dark sarcasms of P. Theroux. It is however advisable to take your time and shift between other books, due to great darkness that might trigger despair... There are some emerging themes: Identity (who are we and who can we become, willingly or not?), Value (how do we measure, share, save or consume valuables?), Trust (between people; in families).
