Reading the second time around is better because John Banks.

I wanted to listen to this because I love John Banks reading style. But got a bit bored with the narrative. May go back to it.

It seems Alvar needs some lessons in women's foibles :)

Just loved the scene where Alvar gets annoyed on Edwy's behalf because the clerics want to banish his wife.

Currently listening to the audible. I have already read the first two and loved them. Am enjoying this too.

Some fascinating tidbits of information coming out from this book such as women being able to challenge men to a trial by combat. The actual account of the rape was far more harrowing than what was seen in the film.

I'm making notes of some of the beautiful writing style so i can learn.

I'm not averse to gore, in fact i rather like it. I even include it in my own writing. But there's a scene in this in which even i found it hard to stomach. I think Mr Gilman was rather brave to write it.

Rich in detail

This has been a struggle. I've had to listen and relisten to the narrative over and over again. Too much unnecessary verbosity with ridiculous descriptions. I feel this is probably the worst of the Lymond series.

Currently on chapter 4. I'm listening to the audible version.
