Just casually mention that Nynaeve is strong enough to channel almost half of what a circle of ten women using a Sa’Angreal can do by herself.... I tend to forget that Nynaeve is like Rand or Logaine levels of power cause she shows it off so rarely.

I love this world RJ has created. It’s so big and intricate that the Seanchan showing up with leashed channelers and flying monsters is pretty much a story to most people. And then when the Seanchan destroy three armies no one cares cause international squabbles. When they do get thrown back into the sea by the flaming Heroes of the Horn and the bloody Dragon Reborn and ppl just want to buy pictures of the battle.

It’s kinda crazy when you think about how powerful the Seanchan are because of how they’ve weaponized their women channelers. And then you remember that the Seanchan are wasting like two thirds of all their channelers as Suldam and only using the much smaller percentage of channelers who have the spark in them. They could do like the White Tower will do and train everyone, but no the Seanchan gotta be horrible.

Ahh Elaida. You who will almost break the White Tower in two as you dash her against the Dragon Reborn. You would see the True Dragon broken to your will but the suffering you inflict only hardens his will and hones his terrible might. Even now your hatred born of fear and ignorant pride blind you Elaida a’Roihan. Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, Aes Sedai of the Red, you refuse to kneel and thus will be knelt.

Dang, forgot how amazing Elayne’s entrance into Rand’s world is. As much as she irritates me later on, she’s a blast when we first meet her lol. Also hilarious that Morgase decides to straight up shaft Elaida’s obvious desire to contain Rand and literally everyone but Rand realizes this. Elaida may wear the title Aes Sedai, but Morgase has the soul of one.

It’s so sad that Eqwene will never understand Perrin’s connection with the wolf dream. She was there with him from the very beginning as Elias was first showing Perrin the abilities within. And it is Perrin’s eventual mastery of the wolf dream that helps Eqwene discover the counter to balefire just before her death. I so wish Eqwene has been able to talk with Perrin about it before her showdown with Tiam.

It’s quite startling how precise Min’s viewings are of Rand, even from this first book. She sees stuff that won’t happen until Sanderson is writing these! Very impressive.

Wow! Moiraine’s telling of Manetheron’s fall hits so hard. Like Gandalf telling of ages past and the rings of power hard. There’s so much emotion in her words that only people as stubborn as Manetheron’s own could be as unmoved as the Two Rivers people were.
