"What's so special about America and its democracy?" That is the question that'll be explored (I assume), and is this more timely than ever.

Had to take a break for a couple of days because honestly it was depressing me. So far it seems like an honest portrayal of what could happen if the next big pandemic hit, and the nuances and cooperation it would take to try to deal with it in a more successful way than not. In reality we, as in both this country and others, are already falling short of that.

"... were the curtains drawing down between the world and me?"

It is frightening how much has already changed in the nine months since the book’s release some of which has put a wrench in the scenario that is about to be portrayed. This administrations policies have already changed the landscape but having a baseline understanding of possibilities will be of value.

This is a re-read. I want to underline the parts that stand out for me like I normally do, but I so far after the first 19 pages I want to underline every single line.
