Elvis' humble beginnings. Learns piano in church essentially, and occasionally using the piano in school. He's different from all the boys in that he has a style all his own. Refused to wear jeans (only worn in movies if needed). While the kids in the 50s sported jeans and crew cuts, he always opted for slacks and longer hair w ducktails.So far review of a lot og what I have already read.

Elvis' health declines; hospitalized again and a detox is attempted but he's been dependent on pills so long he now needs them to function; Barbara S pitches A Star is Born w Elvis as Norman Maine but the Col kills it; Elvis' karate doc idea starts to get off ground but never takes off; Elvis buys Jerry a house in LA; Jerry concludes Elvis medicates to numb his real pain, being killed creatively

Jerry gets to work on Elvis On Tour along w a young Martin Scorsese; Jerry joins Elvis on multi-city tours as a bodyguard; constant touring takes toll on marriages; Jerry is unfaithful to Sandy and heartbreakingly ends the marriage; Elvis reveals Priscilla is leaving him; he sinks into melancholia and can't focus in the studio, but is persuaded to record Burning Love; Elvis sells his music royalties for five million

Death threat at one of the Vegas shows, thankfully nothing happens; Elvis introduces TCB and has his jeweler make the first run of TCB gold necklaces; Elvis' "lost weekend" in D.C. with Jerry and then Sonny; gets his badge (yesss, good job baby) and rifles through Nixon's desk for souvenirs (🤣!!!!!!); asks Jerry to be his official PR guy full-time, which Jerry accepts, quitting his job at Paramount

Circle G Ranch spending spree; Rising Sun, Clambake; Jerry leaves working for Elvis to pursue his own career in film editing; Elvis marries Priscilla; the Col dismisses Larry Gellar and others; Lisa Marie is born

Jerry finds out Col tampers with Elvis' recordings unbeknownst to him; Jerry moves out of Graceland to live with Sandy who now lives in Memphis; Elvis records his gospel album, which he will go on to win his first and only Grammy for; very short lived but intense argument between Jerry and Elvis ends in friendship again

Jerry meets Sandy and falls in love. Elvis meets the Beatles and keeps it 100. Lennon later asks Jerry to pass along a private message to Elvis letting him know that w/o him he wouldn't be who he is today, sideburns and all. Elvis, Jerry. and Scilla experiment with LSD for the first time (supervised). Jerry sees Elvis as a plump boy the a plump happy baby. <3

Elvis was such a genuine loving man. He had his flaws like any of us and its not fair to hold him to a higher standard because he was constantly in the spotlight. Its so sad to read that he was already as world weary as he was due to the inherent nature of fame as extreme as his. Its nice to read that he had a soft hearted person like Jerry around.

Dreamy teenage summer at Graceland with Elvis and gang; Elvis gets drafted/rtns 2 yrs later, different in maturity, style of performance, audience, and general reception (they like him now); picked up karate in Germany; incident w Jerry's gf Carol stealing the show (wild dancing) at Elvis' party; Jerry moves to NYC for a stint to be closer to gf but rtns to Memphis; Priscilla is introduced; EP busy btwn Memphis & LA

Continues to play pickup games at Guthrie on Sundays when EP is in town. Elvis' popularity grows, also among those who out of jealousy (husbs/bf's) take shots at or try to injure at the pickup games. As always, EP wins haters over w his charisma and charm, growing fans along the way. EP's pink Cadillac mentioned; Jerry vacations in FL, where EP performs to excited audiences. "Grab me a Pepsi, will you?"

More pickup games at Guthrie w Elvis. EP's popularity also among those wishing to harm him (jealous boyfriends/husbands), but 'Pretty boy' EP wins them over with his charm and charisma. Mentions pink Cadillac, lol EP was a smooth operator from the jump. Sees him live and how amazing the experience is, he's like a tiger on stage. Goes to FL on vacation, sees EP there doing a few gigs. "Grab me a Pepsi, will you?"

Meets Elvis in 1954 via pick up game where Elvis' team needed a sixth man. Red got Jerry involved likely knowing him from knowing his brother Billy Ray. Schilling describes life in North Memphis at the time, poor whites with pride and definitely aware of segregation rules in ecery day life. Describes Elvis at the time as not standing out w sandy brown hair and ice blue eyes, cool and confident w/o trying.

Onstage presence is depressing everyone (fans still love him though); bills for all the spending catching up; spends birthday more or less alone as he's withdrawing more and more; Linda decides its time to leave; brings Larry Gellar back; fires Red and Sonny with Vernon and the Col.'s approval; Red Sonny immediately devise plan to write a tell all; Ginger Alden (gold digger)

Increasingly unwell emotionally and physically, hospital stays; Vernon heart attack; buys the plane that he names the Lisa Marie; girlfriends mainly to keep him company; spending wildly to make up for his behavior at times; bass player quits over being bullied on stage, Kathy too; Sweets (exception of Myrna) walk off stage one night; deep depression worsening; self destructive behavior increasing

Ups but more downs; pharma use clearly evident to fans; rants during shows; Priscilla stunned as he had always used music to excercise his feelings and opinions; karate movie; buys Schilling, who is dating Myrna (Sweets b/u singer) a house. All in all his demise is unfolding very quickly in front of everyone to see. (;__; )

Blatant unhappiness showing in performances, drug use becoming known public; still depressingly unfocused in the recording studio; malaise; Peruvian 'fans' rush the stage, Elvis takes a karate stand and defends himself, in a rage continues the show; gets the thought Mike Stone sent the guys and asks Red to hire a guy to kill Mike but thankfully backs out; fires "that bald headed bastard" then takes him back

Tours, wildly successful in NYC (finally); seperation from Priscilla public; depressed mood; increases use of pharmaceuticals; records Burning Love; meets/begins to date Linda Thompson

More wild spending; conned Nixon out of giving him federal agent badge--and for his crew; rifled through Nixon's desk for gifts for the wives;increasingly disinterested/unfocused in the studio; glaucoma diagnosis; Joyce Bova

Death/kidnapping/bomb threats; daliences with Kathy and Barbara, TTWII filming
