And then there were 2. Vera could have rigged that clock to fall, something with the hook she was looking at. Perfect to blame Armstrong, who she insists is alive so as to take the fall. Does she know if is he or not? Might not matter as long as Lombard doesn’t suspect her. Does she care if Lombard kills Armstrong? Maybe not.

Lombard killing Roger’s makes more sense. He took the curtain to climb down his window to sneak out and do it. Anytime someone exclaims “this is mad!”, I take it that they believe the killing should have ended because they saw to it the “killer” was no more

Could this chain of events have taken a turn unexpected? What if one or both of the first 2 deaths were an accident or actual suicide. Now people are suspecting murder. And they each may have a suspect in mind. How better to protect themselves than to kill the suspect preemptively! Lombard himself says he’d only act with self interest involved.

3 dead. I’ve woken up with a new theory… are they all killing each other? Are they a set of dominoes taking each other down? Armstrong kills Marston, Roger’s kills his wife, Brent kills MacArthur (they seemed to know each other) and MacArthur worried people knew what he’d done…

It’s neat how the author takes time to set the scene for the reader’s expectations to let them know where their imagination can take them. The mansion would have been spooky after a death, but it is modern and there are no shadowy corners or secrets. Search the island? No caves or anything of that sort to hide in.
“Don’t waste your time wondering about those things”, she is telling us. Appreciate you

Who would want “justice” for these crimes? Someone who hates all these people. Someone who cared for their victims. Odds of that being a single person? No connection as of yet tieing them all together… what if it’s all the victims? Or relatives of.
The children killed by the rich man, their family maybe had a large settlement. Hugo would have inherited much. Follow the money. It was not cheap to set this up.

“Mrs. Roger’s died in her sleep.”
There were startled and shocked ejaculations.

Marston is dead. His drink was poisoned. By himself? Only if he thought he was adding something else. Someone young and rash like him may be into harder stimulants. If someone knows the crimes of this group, might not they know that too?
Or could it have been random. It doesn’t matter who drank it. Dropped in anyone’s glass. Certain seeds can be used to make cyanide…

Most of the accusations don’t say “murdered”. Many of these deaths could have be more linked that they are responsible for accidentally causing deaths, or unintentionally

The game is afoot. Marston comes from wealth and if he is actually more calculating than he is shows to be, could be behind gathering everyone.
Unless one of the supposed victims of these guests is responsible for this arrangement, or one of their families.

Children of the Corn rocks

Forgot how long the beginning is. (Still great) A ways away from getting to the real Derry stuff. Great character building for now.
