Not usually the gimmick I go for when I read rom coms but it's a gift from a work friend. Should be interesting.

I feel like some nuance is missing in some places. For instance, the idea of listening to feelings of dread and avoiding the things you're dreading. I dread getting routine vaccinations and doing taxes but that doesn't mean those things are bad.

I'm gonna fucking vomit. I'm not sure why this one gets to me more than Hell Followed With Us but listening to this at work was a bad idea. But now I'm too invested so I'll probably finish the audiobook today.

Wait so Cline knows about hikikomori but doesn't know that seppuku is a very specific ritual and not just a word for suicide? The portrayal of Japanese characters in general is a massive yikes. I'm still listening because Wil Wheaton is narrating and dude could make an instruction manual sound interesting, but damn.

I apologize for the brevity of the next few book reviews. I haven't had the energy to even type a few paragraphs every day for the past while. Life should get back to more of a routine over the next week, although now that I say that something is bound to happen to prove me wrong.

I see the appeal. It's genuinely a fun read. The fantasy element actually ties into and has equal weight to the romance element, and everything outside the romance feels like it actually matters rather than just being tacked on. There's not a lot of substance but it's pitch perfect escapism for romance and fantasy fans so far. I'll write a full review when I can listen to part 2 of the audiobook.

I'm really impressed with how he braids together medical history, biology, and personal story but holy hell this book is dense and I'm currently dealing with some sort of brain fog. I don't want to dnf it but I'm not absorbing anything. What do

It just so happened that on the day I started reading this book, a relative's terminally ill dog was visiting. I read the prologue aloud to her and she seemed to really enjoy it. She'd been pretty miserable but she really cheered up. That ended up being her last day so I'm glad I was able to make it a little better for her, and thank you to the author for writing a story that's made to be read aloud.

I keep going back and forth on how I feel about certain passages. I don't like being compared to animals or children, but when she goes into more detail those comparisons kind of make sense. Then she says something like "I don't have an unconscious" and I'm like "uhhh" but when she gives more detail I again realize I can kind of relate. But not completely. So some of the stuff she says about autism is not universal.

I'm really digging this so far. Especially the relationship between Selina and her sister. I wonder if this ties into the events of Batman: Nightwalker?

Oh no. This is going to be a liar-revealed story, isn't it?

What an adorable and well-written child character!
I am not looking forward to her death.
I don't know for sure if she dies, but adorable children in dystopian worlds do not have plot armor.

<spoiler> I did not expect to feel bad for the death of a ship but I guess I did become attached to the Hypatia throughout these three books.
Setting as character is one of my favorite tropes. </spoiler>
