This book is certainly panoramic in scope. It covers the illegal trade in drugs, guns, and human organs; political organizing among the homeless, Native people, and communists; the art world; eugenics and Nazis; and so much violence and horror. It’s impressive, but I do feel my attention drifting—it’s a long book! I hope Silko brings all the themes and characters together for an epic finale. Otherwise...
