This is deeply uncomfortable to read (in a 'what great writing' way) and right now I don't understand why anyone could classify this as funny. This woman has issues. Everyone in this book has issues. Horrifyingly enough, they are issues that exist in the real world.

An intriguing story, but motherhood is just not my topic ... at all.

Went in blind and had not expected this amount of incest.

Upping my classics game. For somebody who says she loves magical realism, this is probably required reading.

Still not sure I know how to read poetry. But this is brutal.

Where Are You, Dear Heart? ****
Very explicit and very creepy. 4.5/5

Meat *****
Loved that one!

No Birthdays or Baptisms
Lots of open questions. Very well done, but I think I won't be rating it due to its content.

Rambla Triste *****
Very dark and interesting premise, with a lot of ideas only hinted at. Really liked it. 4.5/5

The Lookout *****
This one hit me. Specially the desciption of the protagonist's feelings.

The Well *****
Although it was pretty clear from the beginning what had happend, this story still hit me right in the feels. The writing is beautiful and the length is perfect.

Our Lady of the Quarry ***
Didn't like this one as much. It started super strong and I was curious to see how it would end, but I expected a more ... clever resolution.

The Cart ***
This one was good, but a little predictable.

Angelita Unearthed ****
Nice and creepy, has a lot of elements I generally like in horror/creepy stories. I would have wished for a little more, but I like the open ending. A good start.

I swear Nicholas Eames is not happy until he has incorporated at least one uber-edgy character in a novel. But it fits the overall mix of seriousness and sillyness, so I don't complain.
It helps that most of the time, just when you think he's going to pull out some overused trope, he takes that trope and smashes you around the head with it.

This is great fun! Different to Kings of the Wyld, which makes for two books than can both be read as standalones or in any order.

Yay, got this new audio production from Netgalley! <3 Krabat is one of my favourite German folk tales (that's technically not a folk tale at all) ever.
