This book takes place in the 1980s when I was in 6th grade. There's plenty going on with the setting in Canada and a native peoples reservation, and I am learning a lot while remembering my younger self.

Interesting. I'm not sure where the story is going. I feel sorry for Nova, an autistic girl who cannot speak entire words.

Expertly written so far. This book teaches kids about so many topics including legal matters. Loving it!

Liking this very much so far. I don't even know what the book is about, just that it has good reviews. The main character/narrator sounds like a sweet, tall, extra kind 7th grade boy. Good enough for me.

Interesting, especially the idea of portals and time travel. It's been a while since we've known Carli was pregnant and that the baby had a heart defect. Now I don't know where the book is going and I'm on edge.

I liked the beginning of this book and then, around a quarter of the way through, I was bothered a little by the fact that the main character has to be naked in order to go outside and remain invisible. I almost decided to not finish the book but continued and now I'm so glad. The book has become WAY more interesting and I'm hooked.

I'm really enjoying this book. The voice of the main character is very strong and I enjoy hearing about her life from her newly 7th grade point of view. I only wish that this book didn't have as many cuss words or would I consider bad words so I could give it to my 11-year-old to read. However, I don't think my daughter knows those words yet and I don't want her to learn them from a book yet.

Gosh, a kids' book about being in a cult. An environmentally-friendly cult.

I didn't like Doug, the main character, very much at first. But after a few chapters, I began to understand him better and began to root for him. And I came to appreciate what the author was doing with his words and how he chose to have Doug narrate the story.

I'm at 50% and am starting to feel like I'm reading a masterpiece.

Really hooks you! And I'm learning so much about Egypt, Cleopatra, Greece ... so much history!

I'm intrigued. I look forward to finding out the reason Rachel is disliked at school this year. However, it *is* a bit contrived that the whole 8th grade knows but just doesn't want to tell the new girl.

Super cute so far. Great middle school voice, especially the texts, the humor, the narration of what's going through the main character's voice. I also like that she named her Kitchen Aid mixer. ;)

Too much going on. Injured Army dad. Middle sister of 5 kids. New school. Old best friend. Girl is a border. And... She found an old letter in a copy of Charlotte's Web? Ok, but let's get on with THAT part of the story.

Loving parts of this. Confused by others and bored by a few. Let's see what happens!
