That first part was abducting and full of colourful descriptions of life in Bombay. Very interesting how Lin starts his life there. Full if humanity, both on his post and that iof the Bombay residents he encounters. Respectful and, through the guide, gives an insight into aspects of Indian culture.

First chapter drew me in. 15 year old son of psychology teacher drawn into a race at an old barn. Apparently the place has bad history. Mum picks up her son, after a long night of work and drags him to the senior school where she teaches, to give her lessons whilst he regrets his hangover.

Realistic portrayal of grief..Interesting concept so far. Will David Tennant be narrating again,.as he has only done a few minutes and his character is now dead?

Enjoying it. Narration is great and the exploration of how close friendships grow and morph is interesting.

Listened for over 2 hours already. Was really interested in the characters and events in the first chapter. This could be a good one!

Enjoying so far. Well written with a host of interesting characters. Their back stories are intriguing and I like that events are based on historical events.

This is a very thoughtful and multi-perspective read dealing with family, bereavement, love, human shortcomings and the adaptions made in the light of these things.

Taken pause already to find and write out family tree & notes on characters. Bewildering array of different names and connections. Enjoying writing and interactions of the family already though. Jessie is interesting, as trying to financially manufacture family unity. I like Cara, her realistic struggles and self-doubt. She is thoughtful and compassionate in her work role, but struggles as extended part of family.

Gripping! I'm really enjoying how the main character, Darcie's, past is becoming revealed, just as detectives try to unravel the mystery of her disappearance. Also, who can we trust? Her therapist may not be all that she seems. The wife of her husband's friend still seems to hold a torch for him. And can Darcie, herself admitting that she is a practiced liar, be trusted as a reliable narrator. Can't stop listening...

I found this book thought provoking and ultimately reassuring all in one package. It wasn't perfect and, in places, somewhat cliched. Despite this, it offered the reader the challenge of taking different perspectives on what constitutes a successful and worthwhile life.
It is ultimately a kind and satisfying book.
