Going to be a dnf.

Solid prose. Reminds me of Elena Ferrante in style.

Oops! Apparently there were transistor radios in 1930's Cuba. (The first transistor was invented at Bell Labs in the late 1940's. Cheap Japanese transistor radios didn't hit the market until the late 1950's.) A careless anachronism. I'm going to take a deep breath and power through. But I feel I've been warned.

I almost always regret these. Finance has a lot to answer for and precious little wisdom. Economists, it seems, have all taken the blue pill.

I've every film adaptation and liked them all, but have never read the source material. I'm fixing that right now.

This is a great book! My progress is slow because every paragraph sends me on a flight of retrospection and speculation.
