Someone not from Kentucky thinking that everyone from Kentucky talks like an uneducated hick. SMDH. Thanks for continuing the stereotype.

I'm trying. Really. But the POV changes, the constant interwoven lesbian pining between all the main characters, and the mopeyness is getting dreary.

Having a hard time with this...premise is interesting, but the writing is bad. There's really a lack of emotion from all the characters and responses to trauma are completely unrealistic (ie, Madallya and her parents basically act like robots after she's raped; real parents would be screaming, cussing, crying, making threats, etc.). The fight scenes have such basic writing and bad sentence structure.

Convinced that no research was done on Kentucky or KSP when this book was written. So many errors.

Being a KSP employee I purchased this solely because of the error in title for KSP TROOPERS.

Really struggling getting through this one. There's a solid 55ish straight pages of personal-issues-at-work and not enough about the actual case they're supposed to be working on. They're supposed to be looking for a missing girl and all they're doing is eating and fawning over Sterling. We get it, she's a blonde bombshell and needs attention. *eyeroll*

I keep reading only because I hate DNFing.
But for the love of God, if you're going to write a book, any book, do some research first. Active shooter situations do not last as long as this book is dragging it out, they don't stop to chitchat and give speeches to anyone, and police do not start with interviewing survivors or setting up triage. They set the perimeter then eliminate the shooter first.

107 pages in and although it's reading fairly fast, it's clear the author didn't actually research active shooter situations before writing this melodrama.

Made it a little less than halfway and I honestly am about to give up on this one. I can't get into the flow and the various POVs, unknown POVs, the constant time shifts, etc. I'm a bit lost on what's going on.

This is going to be a DNF for me. I tried. The dust jacket description sounded super interesting. But there is a level of pretention in the writing, even the dialogue, that I can only describe as "Honors Humanites I" (a college course that led me to drop Honors after one class because it was depressing and irrelevant). Too much philosophizing and not enough fact. 50 pages in and the writing never once drew me in.
