The first chapter was horrible, the second chapter was like eating stale bread, the next chapter was improving but not quite engaging. I'm now 175 pages in and I have to say, what is going on in this book? I'm speed reading just to finish it. And, the writing is ponderous, the plot character interactions are confusing, and I'm not sure I'm prepared for the rest of this book. The linguist in me does love the languages

This book, similar to the last one, is a struggle to read through. It's just not engaging for me. I can see there is value and the author is transitioning things well, but there is a lot of explanations which I get lost in and when it matters, I can't recall what was explained earlier. It's difficult to follow. I do like the normalization of a fantasy world, but this writing style is weighing the book down.
