These type of books drive me crazy. The dark and steamy parts are so much fun to read, but the rest of the story is just poorly done. The MCs come across as prepubescent children who can’t process any emotion, the side characters make no sense, and there are weird phrases sprinkled throughout. Yet I want to keep reading for the sexy times. Frustrating.

You know, if you put “bang” in the title, there should really be some banging in the story.

Did I squeal with delight at a character named Maggie? Yes I did.

Also, the verbal gymnastics to talk about Michael as a groundhog without quite making it clear he is really talking about a groundhog, is just nonsense. I really expected the ridiculousness to end by 15-20% into the story. An outrageous meet cute is one thing, but hinging the entire story on this groundhog misunderstanding is making me lose my patience.

Okay this is really straining the bounds of credulity. Thorne is a trained investigator, it’s really bothering him to not know if Leaf is a criminal, and he has asked more or less no questions. He saw the cameras in the garden, all he had to do was say “are these to see Michael? Can I see the video?” You can only stretch the “he’s afraid of the answer” thing so far.

This story is going nowhere and I am about to lose my patience. I understood what their problems were 10% into the book. I don’t need to keep hearing about it.

What the fuck is up with the food in this book? First the dude was putting ketchup on some kind of cold sandwich and now he is eating peas in mayonnaise??! What? Are you trying to gross me out? 🤣

One of the things I love about Becca Steele’s books, is that she actually shows you what the characters like about each other. This seems like something that should be standard in romance, but it’s really not.

This book is trying to do a weird thing where it’s going fast and slow at the same time. It’s like being in a car when the driver has one foot on the gas and the other on the brakes and keeps mashing them hard in quick succession. Unfortunately, it’s an equally unenjoyable experience. I hope we get past this soon because the story has so much potential.

I am loving how smoking hot the first 100 pages have been, but it’s driving me crazy that these guys moving from the AHL to the NHL seem to be spending zero time practicing, skating, or even seriously working out. My guys, you are all getting sent back down real quick.

It’s taking these two way too long to figure out that they are attracted to each other.

I never noticed how much this “omega” stuff has in common with the menstrual cycle. I feel a little slow for not noticing before but I have read little of it and most of what I read seemed to be worded to make me think of it in animalistic terms. Skye’s father’s discomfort really brought the connection home.

Grey’s writing frustrates me.
“Practice finally ended and I dragged myself off the pool deck, barely able to walk…. but now I ached”
2 sentences later,
“I could barely walk, and every part of me ached.”
This type of repetition is already common at 39 pages in.

I really hate that Atlas thinks his mom would want him to “make it work” with his father. She might have wanted him to be a family with the man she thought he was, but she wouldn’t want him to keep subjecting himself to emotional abuse. I am going to be real pissed if this book ends with him becoming close with his dad.

Good writing. The enemies thing feels forced, though.

Really enjoying the first part of this book. Good character development, some sexual tension, nice use of backstory to illuminate the characters’ behavior. I like that while there is low level hostility and sniping at each other, it’s never cruel and you can see they care about each other underneath it all.

This book is so frustrating! There is a dire circumstance, my child could be endangered! I think I will go have a pout. Huge revelation that is a threat to us and Balty’s family! We should definitely have sex rather than responding to it or telling anyone. We need to have a serious conversation! But first, dinner.

Wow Blair’s family are assholes. They just ignore how he isn’t taking care of his own life and ask for more and more and more from him. The fact that he keeps playing the martyr is really getting on my nerves. Also, do we actually need a cast of dozens for a romance? This might be another DNF.

I am not sure I can continue with this. Just having someone interrupt every single time they come close to having a much needed conversation is weak writing.

This author seems to believe that “utter” is spelled “usher”. The first time a character ushered a statement I assumed it was a typo, but no, characters have continued to usher words.

I am halfway through this book and Zion is treating Baltazar like shit. I am not okay with it. Bating him into sexual acts by pretending you are going to get a blowie from someone else in front of him is no okay and it makes your careful to always have consent’ act look weak as fuck.

I am loving many things about this book but the constant back and forth, hot and cold, yes but no, is driving me crazy. I am starting to suspect this should have been a novella.

This audiobook is quickly becoming a comfort read for me. The narration is so good and I love spending time with these characters.

So this is supposed to be a life or death situation and everyone is sitting around teasing Levi about his sex life? Levi is so worried about Shiloh’s safety but he hasn’t given the new information he has to the people who could use it to find him? I think this author is sacrificing quality storytelling to fan service with their books now.

I love Cole and Huxley but the nonsense about their parents treating them like 8 year olds is ridiculous. All they have to do is say “stop treating us like children” and the problem is solved. It really bothers me that a story that is so good in every other way has this rubbish as a major plot point.
