Tell me you know the bare minimum about the Berkshires without telling me you know the bare minimum about the Berkshires. And the southern part only, at that.

Something about this lacks urgency for me. The convergence of the character’s stories feels so drawn out it might never be achieved.

The back-and-forth of every dramatic moment of this woman’s teenage experience is unreal. Can we not.

This intersects with Harlem Renaissance historical characters slightly

There is a careful balance when you go to layer in references and jokes that the intended demographic (and ONLY the intended demographic) for this book will understand. The balance is Enough and More Than Enough. So far this book has exceeded that balance by reaching OK We Get It Already in the introduction alone.

There are so many puzzle pieces to this book that if the denouement is disappointing I will be very sad.

So far what I’m missing from this is the “how you can use all of this great data” part. Something the Nagoski sisters have in their books in spades.
