I read this early rushed translation long ago as a schoolgirl, now I'm actually reading the translation by Boris Pasternak's nephew, Nicolas Pasternak Slater, who truly understands the subtext of the novel, the musicality of the language and the visual world it inhabits...pure joy -- but not a cheap one, the edition is one of the collectors' items and pricey, but a delight to hold and read slowly....

Currently reading Nicolas Pasternak Slater's translation of "Dr. Zhivago," which includes thematically linked images by Boris Pasternaks father, the artist Leonid Pasternak. And the translation recreates the musicality of the original Russian, as Pasternak like his concert pianist mother Rosalie, was a musician and composer...as well as a poet...The book is beautifully printed and bound, a delight to hold and read
