Dense and descriptive but not exactly compelling

30% NTI this and there’s nothing even implying anything weird or horrific. It’s also knocking off Stephen King pretty bad.

Disc 8. This book is so frigging good. I’m scared the ending is going to end up being disappointing though.

This thing feels like it’s taking forever to move forward. And I’m listening to it. Something happens then they talk about that event for the next five chapters.

Chapter forty-eight. This is one of those BIG books that shows every detail of everything. I spent thirty minutes of listening time on a character explaining exactly how the zombie virus works. Seems a bit excessive.

Feels like a good time to start a Charlie Huston re-read.

Almost makes me want to read Ezra Pound poems now, it talks about him so much.

This last chapter had a great old school western style, almost, quick draw showdown written so well.

I think I might have a new favorite author and series to read.

I’m really liking this book.

Stylistically it’s nothing special but so far a damn good story.

Disc 12. This feels like it’s never going to end. This whole disc is the whole book only from the killers perspective.

Disc 3. So far it feels like a typical police procedural. Nothing much special, although I do like the writing.

Part Three The Wasp’s Nest. I think this is about to pick up a whole lot.

This whole putting himself in the book thing is really putting a strain on my suspension of disbelief.

The last disc. If anything is resolved it’s too little too late.

So far it’s just Roland and company sitting down and listening to other people tell them stories.

Kills me how he makes his prose so lean and still engaging.

About halfway through and this is boring as hell.

We’ve been talking about how Callahan likes to get drunk for half a disc at this point.

Not sure what this story within the story has to do with the Dark Tower or Roland.

Not sure where this is going but I’m into it.

The voice in this is fantasy, but the POV is a little confusing. It’s like it’s in first, second, and third person.

Once it got past the love story this thing got pretty exciting and epic.
