"How could a popular young woman out partying with friends just vanish?"
This might sound cold but I think she fell in the construction site hole and was subsequently paved over. I think she vanished because nobody cared to walk her home when they knew she was incredibly intoxicated from a mixture of alcohol, cocaine and klonopin all while having a serious heart condition.
