The ending just got extremely interesting. Sadly, I'm about 500 pages in, and I'm not sure if a fascinating ending can redeem a story I otherwise didn't enjoy as much as I expected to. I still like the MMC much more than the FMC, and would be perfectly okay if the FMC just disappeared for the rest of the trilogy.

I'm a third of the way through. So far, the FMC has 1) burned the magical flying carpet of the man who rescued her from danger, 2) insulted his family, 3) stolen things from other people, 4) is a burden to the other characters. Why should I care about her again? I expect more from adult fantasy lol.
