Ironically, the best chapter thus far is the chapter most criticized in The Atlantic review. Martin clearly develops his thesis within this chapter, adding layers while using famous authors and their suicides in order to elucidate his point. The concept of doubling. The suicidal is both victim and murderer. The same is true for everyone, suicide is just an extreme example. We are always our own harshest critic.
