I. Hate. Missionaries.

As someone in public health, I already had a poor view of missionary but fkn hell..

The way our taxes have been misused to fill the pockets of all those deigned to kiss the proverbial asses of Hillary and Bill Clinton cocks is wild [instead of going to the Haitian people].

This book has been quite *de-programming* for someone in public health. I tended to think of orgs like USAID and UN and World Bank as large scale social good entities but really, they are not impervious to political corruption.

This book would have been very insightful had I read it in 2017.. reading it now makes it's outdatedness very apparent.

It's weird to have him wax poetic how war and pestilence no longer plague people when millions have died from Covid and war claims the lives in Ukraine while genocide is annhiliating the Palestinian people.

If I hear "my father said I was always going to get shit" one more time....

This might be a DNF.. it's started out so patronizing and the intro by Sinek was creepily insistent that if we just went to church we'd be better (gag). We'll see..

Going to be a book I recommend to everyone. To know and understand how dictators are born in the modern era - and how Facebook/Instagram is a key instigator - is an essential skill.

I'm finding this to be a relatively useful read but the way she idolizes the presidents (especially Bush and Clinton) makes me gag.

I'm enjoying this read but these extra long single character pov chapters - the pov that we don't come back to - are hard. You almost forget what's been said from the other povs.

So far we have:
- slut shamed
- fat shamed
- abortion shamed

Might need to put this audio at 2x speed and make it a hate listen.

Would be so cool if men could write one sci-fi or fantasy book without either incest or 15yo children having sex with old dudes.

The spice in this is so vague I couldn't tell what happened until it's randomly mentioned a chapter later. But the romance 🤌🏻🤌🏻

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, could in fact be considered very soothing and peaceful, but the first fifth of this book is just building a coffee house.

Honestly not sure if I will get past 25% of this book. It's so anti-science and lots of anti-pill and veiled pro-birthing messages sprinkled through it kind of makes me gag. I've never not finished books I've started, but this drivel might be my first time.
