Slee is 10% done with She-Wolves: The Women Who Ruled England Before Elizabeth
so, i set it down because the beginning was all about men. i get that they were painting a picture of the political climate, but damn, if the topic is the women who ruled England, why spend chapters on the men? Some day I'll finish.

I have an increasingly difficult time accepting the bad guy's primary motivation being "revenge," or "I want to make people suffer." If they're not the hero of their own story, they lose some credibility, so right now, this is a tough sell for me.

By the end of the first paragraph I was all in. By the third page I'd completely bonded with the main character. It wasn't until much later I even knew what she looked like. This is fun.

How is this listed under humor? I'm enjoying it. I love that many of the perspectives I've imagined while reading one interview are only three or four interviews off. I like that the author has thought of perspectives very different than the average, or above average, white male american's.

the question is, how does one finish a book when one can not stand the characters?

Why on Earth does a book about women who ruled England have to start off with the biography of a man?
