Still fascinating. The horror of war is overwhelming...seems unbelievable that it took that much blood to make even this much change. Now it's getting sad too....Lincoln loved theater and went often. Shakespeare especially...he was living a Shakespearean tragedy.

Completely engrossing....just the process of how the Emmancipation Proclamation came to be was fascinating...not a simple matter. We are still in that moment in some ways.

Kathy Mcconkey is 50% done with Gilgamesh: The New Translation
This is NOT the edition I'm reading...but I don't find my edition here in Good Reads. Mine is translated by John Gardner and John Maier. Said to be the oldest known piece of literature, it was written down well before the Bible or the Odyssey, etc. The story is about love and loss and I am finding it remarkably moving....to think that humans had these thoughts and feelings and they were important enough to write them

I've finished Root and Trunk and hesitate to finish with Crown and Seeds. I still love this book and was willing to overlook a couple of instances where the extreme actions of law enforcement or companies begin to go beyond credibility....it is a novel after all. But many reviews express disappointment with these last two sections, I'm wondering if I should just stop now?! (Who am I kidding...I'll finish for sure!)

Pretty fascinating now that I'm into it. Will definitely need to check in with my therapist friends.
