It felt like two separate short stories they tried to connect by giving two characters the same name.

fun summer read. it was not just another a pedestrian romance novel. it had a more complex plot, and i really valued the emphasis on finding oneself. my only complaint was that the author used dated verbiage such as "she's taken"; as though alice had no agency or say in her relationship status. the male characters would also use phrases like "scream like a girl" or "not very manly", which is belittling to everyone.

i loved this book. while my life experience is vastly different to Gay's my personality is very similar. the longer i read it, the more i felt like i was sitting with a friend; learning about her life. i'm grateful that she shared the story of her body.
