...all those dreams came from the moment when I believed I was looking at Psyche's palace and did not see it. For the horror was the same: a sickening discord, a rasping together of two worlds, like the two bits of a broken bone.

But in the reality (not in the dreams), with the horror came the inconsolable grief. For the world had broken in pieces and Psyche and I were not in the same piece.

What is it about human pride that insists olive generation is the one to finally see the unmediated and unadulterated truth?

...we pray to the God who is outside time and space, and that God reaches into time and space to answer.

Had I paused to reflect, I would never understood that my devotion brought me no more than suffering... the eternal human stupidity of pursuing those who hurt us the most.

I'm trying sooooo hard to read this book. I think I hate it.

I'm only on page 37 - I've cried at least twice and now I'm laughing out loud, which I don't often do while reading. I'm feeling entirely justified in ignoring my to-read-2015 list.

I'm in love with this book. Or at least in serious like. J.J. Abrams, you get me every time. Genius!

Worry implies that we don't quite trust that God is big enough, powerful enough, or loving enough to take care of what's happening in our lives. Stress says that the things we are involved in are important enough to merit our impatience, our lack of grace toward others, or our tight grip of control.

It took awhile, but I'm interested now. I'm enjoying learning about Bosnia, too, a country whose history I know very little of.
