I know this is a classic, but it was so boring. I could not finish it. It just seemed to be pointless people drinking, running into other people, drinking more, then going there separate ways. They discussed nothing of real interest.

I gave up. I just could not become invested with the characters. I am not saying anything bad about the book. It just did not connect with me personally.

It took me awhile to get into the book. The first main character, Helen Watt was far from likable and Aaron Levy not all that interesting. When it switched to Esther's story I became more interested. The characters all grew on me. It became a very interesting story about a woman who was not allowed to be herself in the 17th century and the people in 2001 who discovered who she was and her impact on history.

This was a very interesting story that brought history to life. I enjoyed the strength and perseverance of the main character, Cathy Williams.
