June Pecchia is 50% done with Less
I am moved to write about Less as he leaves Berlin.

Whoa. Andrew Sean Greer, you inspire me to try to imagine fabricating a world as visceral as you have in this novel.

If unsure whether to read this book, read the description of present-day Berlin in the wee hours on pages p. 122-124 and I dare you not to go back and start page 1.

Just after is the story of Less' departure from a Bavarian lover...

Just not the right book for me now. Put it away for some later date.

Composing a Further Life: The Age of Active Wisdom

June Pecchia is on page 223 of 640 of A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton
Still have the signed book... inspirational to see Hillary Clinton in person at Warwick's Books last year. I started to read it, and found it interesting but not compelling enough to keep me at it in the midst of dealing with family crises. Now, in 2017, I'm so disheartened by the election outcome... I wonder how one of my heroes is managing to put her life into next phase... I just can't pick up again book yet.

A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton

June Pecchia is on page 252 of 291 of An Unnecessary Woman
As I approach the last thirty-some pages of The Unnecessary Woman, I am stricken with the need to see some photos of a central character: the city of Beirut, Lebanon. Alameddine's narrator "...Aaliyah, the high one, the above..." describes the city with the intimacy and empathy of a native, a trapped native. Youtube, I find, has many a paean of love to Beirut. Watching a few gives me a sense of place.
