it's so obvious that Hoover is trying to correct some of the stuff from the first book that was criticized. at least now we are labeling Ryle as the manipulative abuser that he is, but it just feels like Hoover is writing Lily with a different perspective when it's only been like a year since she was head over heels in love with Ryle. but at the same time, she still thinks the same thoughts and sees him the same way
