Legit though, is anyone NOT writing a retelling of Persephone and Hades?

I tried reading so many times since I got COVID but it just isn't working out well for me. I can barely remember what I read in the previous chapter.

I see the trend is now going to be magical divorcees now? Divorced in your 40s isn't the worst thing to be, but it's certainly not a fantasy I want to escape into. Where's the shit that happens between New Adult and Midlife Crisis? I want to read that.

Why are all the book covers with gorgeous black women only found in the science fiction section? Is it my genre settings?

This is the 3rd time I forgotten which book this is... it's sci-fi, there's a young woman that escapes some sort of slavery by hopping on somebody's spaceship and hiding inside a vent, but she hasn't bathed in weeks so the crew members eventually smell her and open the vent and she topples out nearly dead? And then they decide not to shove her out the air lock and she falls in love with the captain? Anyone? Come on.

If the book stars the new kid at a new school, 97% chance I am not interested.
