Hunger games meets handmaids tale esque

All she wanted to do is I’m back in bed and cuddled under the covers with her kids sleep. It was her only escape. But she knew how dangerous escape could be. Survival took grit and courage. And effort. It was too easy to give in no matter how afraid she was she had to teach her children every day how to survive

All of the moments I liked in this book happened before the 50% mark. This feels like a very long drawn out heartbreak.

I’m learning a lot about the dust bowl and the depression and it is…you guessed it…depressing

Struggling through this bit

Sucked me in from page 1. I’m very interested in the Vietnam timeframe from a woman’s experience. Some hard to read parts, so well written!
